The number of violent crimes in Scottsdale decreased by 5.1 percent in 2004, according to statistics released Tuesday by the FBI. Murders decreased by 43 percent, from seven in 2003 to four in 2004.
Burglaries decreased by nearly 10 percent, and robberies decreased by 19 percent, from 163 in 2003 to 132 in 2004, and auto theft typically ranks among the top five states nationwide in car theft decreased by 12 percent.
The only crimes to increase were forcible rape, by 1.6 percent, and aggravated assault, by 3 percent.
The numbers are part of the FBI’s Uniform Crime Reporting program, which annually tracks and archives crime statistics from cities across the United States.
